Mr Erik Koppert

Mr Erik Koppert, MD, FRACS, FACS, FRCSC, is a highly skilled and experienced General Surgeon based in Melbourne. With over 30 years of experience in the field of medicine, he is dedicated to providing comprehensive and personalized care to his patients.

Dr. Koppert obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from the prestigious University of Utrecht in the Netherlands in 1988. He then went on to complete his postgraduate training, becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2001, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) in 1998, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) in 1998. He is also a member of the Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE).

As a multilingual surgeon, Dr. Koppert is fluent in Dutch, French, and German, which allows him to effectively communicate with patients from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Koppert has a wide range of interests within the field of general surgery. His expertise includes colonoscopy, gastroscopy, and endoscopy. He has a particular interest in conditions such as bowel cancer screening, acid reflux, heartburn, GORD, IBS, IBD, laparoscopic cholecystectomy, hernia repair (inguinal, femoral, umbilical, abdominal, incisional), appendicectomy, bowel surgery, breast biopsy, carpal tunnel release, ganglion excision, haemorrhoid treatment, anal skin tags, anal fissure, anal fistula, rectal mucosal prolapse, ingrown toenail, abscess drainage, pilonidal sinus, skin lesions and cysts/lipomas, hydrocele, and vasectomy (sterilization). Additionally, he offers "cosmetic" surgical procedures, including gynaecomastia (male breasts) and diastasis recti repair.

Dr. Koppert consults with patients in his modern private consulting rooms conveniently located at the Epworth Hawthorn Private Hospital.
