Dr Joseph Kong

Dr Joseph CH Kong is a prominent consultant colorectal surgeon with extensive experience and expertise in the management and treatment of general and colorectal conditions. He currently practices at Holmesglen Private, Cabrini Hospital, Alfred Hospital and Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, providing high-quality care to patients.

Dr Kong completed his FRACS in 2014 at St. Vincent’s Hospital, following which he pursued a PhD in colorectal cancer immunology at Peter MacCallum Cancer Center. He underwent two years of post-FRACS fellowship training in colorectal surgery through CSSANZ at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Brisbane, and Alfred Hospital. Dr Kong further developed his skills and knowledge in Advanced Colon and Rectal Cancer Fellowship on robotic surgery at MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Houston, Texas.

Dr Kong is passionate about providing comprehensive care to patients with all general and colorectal conditions, including hernias, haemorrhoids, perianal fistula, pilonidal disease, inflammatory bowel disease, small bowel cancer, appendiceal cancer, peritoneal cancer and colorectal cancer.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Kong is a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University and is actively involved in academia, education, teaching, quality assurance, and translational research in colorectal cancer immunology. He has authored numerous reviewed publications and book chapters, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field of colorectal surgery.
