Dr. Cohen is a highly skilled and experienced orthopedic surgeon with expertise in hip and knee replacement procedures. He graduated from Sydney University Medical School in 2010 and completed his orthopedic training program from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2020. He further received postgraduate subspecialty training in multiple approaches to hip replacement, including minimally invasive anterior and direct superior approaches. Dr. Cohen also completed a fellowship in robotic hip and knee joint replacement, where he learned about patient-specific planning and component placement based on individual anatomy.
Besides his clinical work, Dr. Cohen has a keen interest in research and has completed a research-based Masters in Physiology. He has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals and presented his research both nationally and internationally. His research interest includes knee replacement alignment and balancing, day surgery joint replacement, and recently the timing of surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Cohen has also been involved in quality improvement projects aimed to advance post-operative patient care to improve recovery and pain management.
Currently, Dr. Cohen is appointed at various reputable hospitals, including St. George Public, The Sutherland Hospital, Grafton Base Hospital, St. George Private, and Kareena Private Hospital. He is a member of various professional organizations, including the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Australian Orthopaedic Association, Australian Orthopaedic Trauma Society, and Canadian Arthroplasty Society.
Dr. Cohen has published several research studies on topics related to orthopedic surgery in renowned medical journals, including Orthopaedic Clinics of North America, ANZ Journal of Surgery, British Journal of Surgery, Anaesthesia, and the Journal of Arthroplasty. His research work is focused on improving patient outcomes, enhancing surgical techniques, and exploring the effects of coronal alignment on distal femoral anatomy.
