Benjamin Privett is a General Surgeon with expertise in gallbladder, hepatic (liver), and pancreatic surgery. He completed his undergraduate studies before pursuing his training across Victoria and New South Wales. In 2018, he received fellowship status from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. Later, he went on to specialize in Hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) surgery, earning his membership with the Australian & Aotearoa New Zealand, Hepatic, Pancreatic & Biliary Association (AANZHPBA) after completing post-fellowship training. In 2021, he completed his fellowship training in Liver Transplant from the Austin Hospital.
Apart from his clinical commitments, Mr Privett is an advocate of surgical education, enrolled in a Masters program at the University of Melbourne. As a supervisor for junior medical staff at Frankston Hospital, he is dedicated to enhancing the quality of surgical training for prospective surgeons. He has also co-convened the Victorian Trainees’ weekend in General Surgery.
Mr Privett's valuable contributions to the medical field include numerous publications in medical journals. Besides, he is an Associate Lecturer at Monash University and a reviewer for the ANZ Journal of Surgery. Outside his medical studies, he is actively involved in volunteering work for the charity kitchen, FareShare, to serve those in need.
