Mr David Lam

David Lam is a skilled Colorectal and General Surgeon based in Melbourne, specialising in the treatment of pelvic floor disorders. With over a decade of medical experience, Mr. Lam completed his medical degree with honours from The University of Melbourne in 2007. He then went on to become a qualified General Surgeon in 2016, followed by four years of Colorectal Surgery training. While training, he spent one year at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, United Kingdom, in the internationally acclaimed Pelvic Floor Unit, where he gained experience in prolapse surgery and sacral nerve stimulation. He is also a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland and a provisional member of the Australasian Colorectal Surgical Society.

Mr. Lam's expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions including colon and rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, proctology, including haemorrhoids, fistula and fissure. He is one of the few surgeons in Melbourne with a distinguished interest in faecal incontinence, obstructed defaecation and rectal prolapse. He offers his patients extensive diagnostic services involving anorectal physiology. He also utilises the latest abdominal and perineal approaches for prolapse repair alongside sacral nerve stimulation for faecal incontinence.

Mr. Lam has a wealth of experience in General Surgery and Endoscopy, including the treatment of hernias, gallstones, appendicitis, and appendix mass as well as pilonidal disease. He also has GESA certification to perform colonoscopy. Additionally, he is affiliated with The Women's Hospital, where he collaborates closely with urogynaecologists for patients with multi-compartmental prolapse.

Apart from his medical prowess, Mr. Lam is multilingual, speaking fluent Cantonese and conversational Mandarin. He currently holds valuable public hospital appointments at Austin Health – Colorectal Unit, The Royal Women’s Hospital – Pelvic Floor Unit, and Eastern Health - General Surgery.
