Dr Graeme Gonzales is a highly skilled specialist in neurology with extensive experience as a doctor, researcher, and educator. He obtained his medical degree from St Vincent’s Clinical School at the University of Melbourne in 1998 and completed his basic physician training at Austin Health, before finishing his advanced training in Neurology in 2006. Dr Gonzales also served as a clinical teacher at the University of Melbourne for one year between his basic and advanced phases of training.
In 2007, Dr Gonzales completed a post-training Epilepsy Fellowship under the guidance of Prof. Mark Cook and Assoc. Prof. Wendyl D’Souza. He received the Epilepsy Society of Australia Scholarship that same year and was awarded an NHMRC Postgraduate Medical Scholarship in 2008-9 for his doctoral research on epilepsy pharmacology. Over the years, his expertise in the fields of epilepsy research and stroke has led to numerous publications in top journals.
Currently, Dr Gonzales works as a senior staff specialist in neurology at St Vincents Melbourne, with admitting rights at Ringwood and Knox Private Hospital. He has also served as a senior local examiner for the RACP and the University of Melbourne in internal medicine, and actively contributes to medical education by teaching trainees at all levels. Moreover, he oversees basic and advanced trainees for the RACP, ensuring that they receive the best possible training and mentorship.
