Mr George Koufogiannis

George Koufogiannis is an accomplished surgeon with expertise in urology. He completed his medical studies at the respected University of Sydney and later secured post-graduate qualifications in Victoria, Australia and New South Wales. His hard work and dedication culminated in him being awarded the prestigious FRACS (Urology) certification.

Throughout his advanced training, George focused on urological cancers, specifically, the use of minimally invasive surgical techniques. He has developed a wealth of experience in male voiding dysfunction, laser prostate surgery, and stone surgery. George honed his skills in advanced laparoscopic techniques, implant surgery, and complex open urological cancers during his fellowship year. He also received further training in robotic surgery at leading institutes worldwide, such as the University of Southern California and Asan University in Seoul, Korea.

George is one of the most experienced and highly trained robotic surgeons in Australia, having conducted over 500 cases as a primary surgeon, proctor, or assistant. He is an advanced proctor for Da Vinci, and he mentors newly qualified robotic surgeons across Australia. As a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators, George is passionate about teaching the next generation of surgeons.

George is actively involved in various committees, including the Urology representative on the medical advisory committee at Beleura Private, the Robotic Steering Committee of Management Private, and Theatre Advisory Committees at Knox. In addition, he participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and audits, and he stays up-to-date with the latest advances in radiology and morbidity meetings.

He welcomes both public and private patients, and he is always available for urgent cases within 24 hours. As a Greek speaker, George is able to communicate with patients in medical terminology.
