Dr Ata Doost is an exceptionally skilled cardiologist with extensive experience in the treatment of coronary artery disease. He specialises in performing interventional cardiac catheterizations, with a focus on trans-radial procedures, and uses intracoronary imaging and physiology techniques like IVUS, OCT, and FFR. Dr Doost is also well-versed in coronary calcium modification methods, including rotational atherectomy and intravascular lithotripsy, and has a keen interest in using percutaneous techniques to treat aortic and mitral valve disease, such as TAVI and percutaneous mitral valve repair.
Aside from coronary artery disease, Dr Doost is skilled in treating hypertension, general rhythm disturbances, angina, heart failure, and high blood pressure. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in Iran in 2008 and received his AMC Certificate from the Australian Medical Council in 2013.
Dr Doost completed his cardiology training at several prestigious institutions, including The Canberra Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital, and King’s College Hospital in the UK. He received his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in Adult Medicine Division in 2019.
Dr Doost is involved in extensive research on multi-modality cardiac imaging, coronary calcification, and the application of intracoronary imaging and coronary calcium modification techniques. He has authored several research papers and was awarded a Master of Philosophy from the Australian National University Medical School for his research on the use of micro CT scan in small animal models.
