Dr Michael Chang

Dr Michael Chang is a dedicated and accomplished cardiologist specialising in cardiac imaging. He is based in Hurstville, a suburb in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Dr Chang obtained his Bachelor of Science (Medicine) and Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery degrees from the University of New South Wales. He furthered his medical knowledge by completing a Master of Philosophy degree.

With a passion for cardiac imaging, Dr Chang underwent specialised training as the Swire Cardiac Imaging Fellow at St Vincent’s Hospital. During this intensive training, he focused on mastering cardiac computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Dr Chang has successfully supervised and reported over 3000 cardiac CT scans with exceptional accuracy. He is accredited to provide cardiac CT training in both Australia and New Zealand.

Supported by an Australian Postgraduate Award Scholarship, Dr Chang pursued a Master of Philosophy at the University of Sydney. His research focused on the digital extraction and computational simulation of patient-specific cardiac imaging data. Through his innovative work, Dr Chang leverages cutting-edge technologies such as computational fluid dynamics and three-dimensional printing to enhance patient management in cardiovascular medicine.

Dr Chang's contributions to the medical field are well-regarded, as seen through his publications in peer-reviewed journals and his participation in national conferences, where he shares his expertise and findings. His clinical interests encompass non-invasive cardiac imaging, cardiac arrhythmias, congenital and structural heart disease, and the management of cardiovascular risk factors.

In addition to his medical expertise, Dr Chang is fluent in Mandarin and Taiwanese (Hokkien). This language proficiency allows him to effectively communicate with a diverse range of patients, ensuring optimal care for all.
