Dr Mark Nallaratnam

Dr Mark Nallaratnam is a highly esteemed Interventional Cardiologist with extensive expertise in the field of Cardiology spanning over twenty years. Born in England and educated in Australia, he holds a BSc from Monash University in Melbourne, followed by a medical degree (MBBCh, BAO) from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Displaying a deep passion for Cardiology, Dr Nallaratnam completed his medical residency and Cardiology Fellowship at the prestigious Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. In 2005, he embarked on a two-year Interventional and Research Fellowship at Christchurch Hospital in New Zealand. Currently, he is actively involved in writing his MD thesis focused on microvascular perfusion defects following ST-elevation MI.

In 2007, Dr Nallaratnam further advanced his skills in Interventional Cardiology and Vascular Medicine by completing a comprehensive two-year fellowship at Boston University Medical Center in the United States. During this period, he also served as a clinical tutor, demonstrating his dedication to educating and mentoring medical professionals at various levels.

Dr Nallaratnam is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds associate membership with The Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand, The Society of Vascular Medicine, The American College of Cardiology, and The Society of Coronary Angiography and Interventions.

Presently, Dr Nallaratnam has a special interest in diagnostic coronary and peripheral angiography, complex percutaneous coronary and peripheral interventions, vascular medicine, and ASD/PFO closure. He is also proficient in conducting and interpreting Vascular studies.

In addition to his exceptional medical expertise, Dr Nallaratnam is an avid sports fan, particularly enjoying AFL, cricket, and tennis. When he is not working, he cherishes spending quality time outdoors with his family.
