Dr Amit Zutshi

Dr Amit Zutshi has joined the team at Mitcham Private Hospital as a Consultant Psychiatrist. With over 12 years of experience in Psychiatry, Dr Zutshi offers in-patient and out-patient treatment to patients aged 16 to 65. He has a keen interest in developing a broad, bio-psychosocial approach to psychiatry at Mitcham Private Hospital.

Dr Zutshi uses a range of tailored treatment strategies for patients with various conditions including mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, dementia, schizophrenia, personality disorders, stress, and grief. He actively engages in research and teaching, and has published numerous scientific papers in areas such as Mood and Anxiety disorders, Neuro-imaging, Dementia, and Schizophrenia.

Dr Zutshi's patient-centered approach to care involves working collaboratively with his patients to develop effective treatment plans. He offers brief and long-term psychotherapy, including psychodynamic, supportive, and cognitive-behavioral therapies (CBT), as well as pharmacotherapy as part of his treatment strategies.

Dr Zutshi completed his MB BS GANDHI qualification in 1999 and obtained Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists in 2011. He is also fluent in Hindi, in addition to English.
