Dr Lochanie Fonseka

Dr Lochanie Fonseka brings over 10 years of experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist, having practiced in Australia and New Zealand. She is a member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) and has completed her Fellowship in general adult psychiatry, as well as advanced training in old age psychiatry.

Currently, Dr Fonseka is associated with Peninsula Health as a general adult psychiatrist and serves as an adjunct senior lecturer at Monash University. She also joins the team at Mitcham Private Hospital, where she provides expert consultation and treatment to patients in the hospital's consulting suites.

Dr Fonseka's commitment to comprehensive mental healthcare extends to her involvement in Victoria Court, a specialized 21-bed inpatient unit that facilitates mental health recovery. Additionally, she offers her expertise in the hospital's 6-bed perinatal mental health unit, providing a comfortable and welcoming environment for patients in need.

Dr Fonseka's clinical interests lie in the field of psychiatry, with a specific focus on psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia, substance-induced psychosis, and early psychosis. She also brings expertise in mood disorders including Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) and Bipolar Affective Disorder (BPAD), as well as anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). Additionally, she has experience in old age psychiatry and perinatal mental health assessments.
