Dr Chintanie De Silva

Dr Chintanie De Silva is an accredited psychiatrist with over 10 years of experience in mental health. She has received training in both New Zealand and Australia and has expertise in various areas including perinatal psychiatry, early psychosis, trans-cultural issues, migrant mental health, personality disorders, and old age psychiatry.

Dr De Silva's practice combines CBT/DBT/supportive psychotherapy/ACT/family therapy approaches along with pharmacological interventions to provide comprehensive care to her patients. With a special interest in treating depression, anxiety, psychosis, and Bipolar Affective Disorder, she also offers support for drug-related issues.

Recently joining Mitcham Private Hospital as its resident psychiatric consultant, Dr De Silva is available on-site for both inpatient and outpatient services since March 2013. Her goal is to establish a broad psychiatric practice at the hospital and she welcomes patients from all backgrounds. Working closely with general practitioners, she provides ongoing expertise in bulk-billed 291 and 293 assessments.

In addition, Dr De Silva is accredited to Moffat Private Hospital's Victoria Court, where she accepts referrals for complex cases such as mood and anxiety disorders, spectrum disorders, complex post-traumatic stress disorders, schizophrenia, bipolar disorders, stress, and grief.

Dr De Silva is dedicated to providing compassionate care to all her patients.
