Dr Ahmed Shaalan

Dr. Ahmed Shaalan is an expert Neonatal Paediatrician, with over 18 years of experience in paediatric and neonatal care. He has received extensive training at renowned perinatal centres across Victoria, including Monash Children’s Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital, and Royal Children’s Hospital, and has obtained the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Ahmed has complemented his practical experience with academic achievements, including a Master’s degree in Paediatrics and a Ph.D. in Childhood Studies, focussed on children's health and nutrition.

Ahmed provides specialised care for newborns, with his broad experience covering pre- and post-pregnancy care, attendance at both high and low-risk deliveries, baby assessments, hospital discharge examinations, and growth and development assessments for up to two years after birth. Additionally, he is a certified lactation consultant, having been board-certified from 2008 to 2018. He works tirelessly to support and facilitate successful breastfeeding, with an understanding that the golden time for both the baby and parents is the first few days after birth.

Ahmed firmly believes that his primary goal is to establish the ideal bonding between the baby and the family. Through his wealth of knowledge, experience and dedication to neonatal paediatrics, Ahmed ensures that every parent feels confident in their newborn's care and can enjoy this special time.
