Prof Alistair Royse

Professor Alistair Royse serves as the acting Head of Surgery at The University of Melbourne and The Royal Melbourne Hospital. In addition, he directs eLearning Technologies at Melbourne Medical School, has co-CEO status of the Ultrasound Education Group, and oversees the Mobile Learning Unit at the University of Melbourne.

Professor Royse has an impressive medical background in cardiothoracic surgery with a particular focus on Coronary Bypass surgery and arterial conduit revascularisation. His interests also include total arterial coronary bypass surgery, radial artery use, echocardiography, clinical ultrasound training, epidural analgesia in cardiac surgery, valve repair, and pacemaker implantation.

Professor Royse has been instrumental in the advancement of cardiac surgery in Australia, particularly with the introduction of the use of arterial coronary bypass grafts and complex arterial reconstructions.
