Professor Kate Drummond is an accomplished Neurosurgeon who graduated from the University of Sydney with a degree in Medicine in 1988. She has a passion for neuro-oncology and has completed fellowship programs related to the field. In addition, she pursued her interest in brain tumors by doing both clinical and research work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard University in Boston. She was awarded an MD from the University of Melbourne in 2008 and is currently serving as the Director of Neurosurgery at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, as well as the Head of Central Nervous System Tumours for the VCCC Parkville Precinct.
Professor Drummond has written and published more than 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on neurosciences and has earned a reputation as an expert in her field. She is frequently invited to speak nationally and internationally as a thought leader on the latest advances in neurosurgery. She is also a member of various national groups on cancer and brain tumors. Due to her outstanding contributions to medicine particularly in the field of neuro-oncology and community health, she was awarded Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2019.
A/Prof Drummond's top priority is to provide the highest standards of spinal surgery, as well as compassionate and informed care for her patients. Her chief research interests lie in the biology and clinical management of brain tumors, and she firmly believes in offering her patients the most advanced treatments available.
