Dr Krishna Bhagwat

Dr. Krishna Bhagwat is a highly qualified and experienced cardiothoracic surgeon, originally from Mumbai, India. He completed his medical education at the University of Mumbai and obtained his Master of General Surgery degree in 2000. Later, he completed his advanced training in cardiothoracic surgery at the University of Pune, India, in 2003. Dr. Bhagwat spent five years working as a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon in India before relocating to Australia for further training. He successfully completed his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons in 2016 after completing clinical rotations at various hospitals, including the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, Alfred Hospital, and Monash Hospital.

Dr. Bhagwat is a skilled general cardiac surgeon and has a keen interest in minimally invasive valve repair and replacement surgery and total arterial revascularization. He is passionate about minimally invasive thoracic and cardiac surgery, thoracic oncology, and surgical training. He has authored multiple publications and is an active member of the Academy of Surgical Educators with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, serving as a college-appointed Supervisor of SET (Surgical Education and Training) in Cardiothoracic Surgery.

As a consultant cardiothoracic surgeon, Dr. Bhagwat's practice includes a wide range of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, such as coronary artery bypass surgery, minimal access valve surgery, atrial septal defect (ASD) closure, thoracoscopic lobectomy and segmentectomy, bullous lung disease treatment, pleural diseases, and chest wall deformities repair. He is also skilled in performing video-assisted minimally invasive surgeries, including thymectomy and mediastinal tumor excision.

Dr. Bhagwat remains clinically active in general adult cardiac and thoracic surgery in both public and private practice.
