Dr Sam Hillier

Dr Sam Hillier is a cardiologist with a wealth of experience in the field. He currently practices at Cairns Private Hospital and also holds consultations at his private rooms, Heartrx Cardiology. Dr Hillier graduated from Oxford University in 2003 and went on to complete his internship in the UK. Following this, he relocated to Australia to pursue specialist training. Dr Hillier has received extensive clinical training in regional Queensland, including at the Cairns Hospital, where he has participated in outreach clinics in Mareeba, Innisfail, Yarrabah, and Atherton.

Dr Hillier completed his general and sub-specialty cardiology training at The Royal Brisbane and The Prince Charles Hospitals. He obtained his FRACP in Cardiology and further pursued an additional fellowship year in Advanced Echocardiography at The Prince Charles Hospital. As an Imaging Cardiologist, Dr Hillier has a particular interest in managing acute and chronic heart failure. He specializes in various types of echocardiography, including transoesophageal and exercise stress echocardiography, as well as cardiac CT.

Dr Hillier's research focuses on 3D echocardiography, and he is currently pursuing an M.Phil project with the University of Queensland. He has presented his research at local, national, and international conferences and has made contributions to an American Society of Echocardiography book. Dr Hillier is dedicated to providing his patients with prompt assessment and treatment and is available for appointments at any time.
