Dr Ridzwan Namazie

Dr. Ridzwan Namazie is a highly skilled Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in hand and upper limb surgery. He takes a personalized approach to treatment and collaborates with other healthcare providers to ensure patient-centric care. Dr. Namazie was granted a full scholarship to study medicine at the National University of Ireland, Galway. He went on to complete his basic surgical training in Ireland and became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons. He then pursued advanced training in Orthopaedic Surgery in New Zealand and was later admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2018. He worked as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in New Zealand before undertaking subspecialist fellowship training. Dr. Namazie completed two fellowships accredited by the Australian Orthopaedic Association. His first fellowship was in Upper Limb and Hand Surgery at the Gold Coast University Hospital, followed by a Shoulder Fellowship at the Australian Shoulder Research Institute, Brisbane. He additionally completed an observership with Professor Alessandro Castagna at Istituto Clinico Humanitas, Milan, Italy. Dr. Namazie actively participates in research and currently holds the position of Clinical Research Fellow at Surgical, Treatment and Rehabilitation Services (STARS), in partnership with the University of Queensland. He has received awards for his research, including the 2021 Linscheid-Dobyns Excellence in Wrist Surgery Award by the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. During his fellowship, he contributed to research at the Queensland Unit for Advanced Shoulder Research, based at the Queensland University of Technology. He has also published articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international meetings, and authored a book chapter. As a passionate teacher, Dr. Namazie regularly mentors orthopaedic trainees, medical students, and junior doctors. His commitment to the public health system is reflected in his public appointment with Metro North Health, where he works at STARS and Redcliffe Hospital.
