Dr Nipu Jayatilleke

Dr Nipu Jayatilleke is a compassionate and experienced Breast and General Surgeon who believes in treating her patients as individuals and providing expert and caring support during challenging times. She understands that clear communication and keeping in touch with the patients' GP are crucial in delivering the best possible care.

After attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr Jayatilleke underwent specialized post-graduate training in Breast Oncoplastic Surgery, Thyroid/Parathyroid Surgery, and obtained a Master of Surgery degree specialising in Breast Cancer at the University of Sydney. She completed her training at high volume centers such as Waikato Hospital in New Zealand and the Breast Cancer Institute at Westmead Hospital in Sydney.

Dr Jayatilleke is an active advocate for diversity and gender equity in surgery and is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, particularly in the Younger Fellows Section and Women in Surgery section. She is Deputy Director of the Surgical Skills Network at Sydney Southwest Local Health District, Site Director for Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, and also on faculty for teaching numerous courses for trainee surgeons through the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

In addition, Dr Jayatilleke holds VMO appointments at BreastScreen NSW in Camperdown and St.Leonards, and is a VMO at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse, St.George Private Hospital, and Kareena Private Hospital. She is committed to reducing the stress associated with attending a specialist appointment for her patients, and makes every effort to see urgent referrals as soon as possible.
