Dr Michael Harden

Dr Michael Harden is an accomplished Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Queensland in 1992. After working in the mining industry in Western Australia, he pursued his dream of becoming a medical doctor by completing an undergraduate degree in Medicine from the University of New South Wales in 2000. He furthered his education by obtaining a Masters Degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2006, with a focus on Cardiovascular Fluid Dynamics and Physiological Fluid Mechanics.

Dr Harden underwent rigorous training at the Royal Hobart Hospital in Tasmania, as well as the Prince of Wales and Royal North Shore Hospitals in Sydney. He earned his Fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery from The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and completed an advanced Cardiothoracic Fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, specialising in Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery and Adult Cardiac Surgery. Dr Harden is highly trained in minimally invasive thoracic surgery.

As an expert in his field, Dr Harden has contributed to various research areas and has published extensively on tissue engineering, fluid mechanics of the aortic valve, cardiac imaging, and cardiac history. He has also presented his research at international symposiums. In addition, Dr Harden has designed a prototype for an arterovenous anastomotic stent during his Masters in Biomedical Engineering.

Dr Harden currently practices at North Shore Hospital campus and has rooms at North Sydney and Gosford Private Medical Centre. He has a keen interest in minimally invasive thoracic oncology and is also an expert in adult cardiac surgery. His diverse experience in the medical field makes him a highly respected and sought-after surgeon in Australia.
