Dr Leigh Archer

As a member of Southern Surgical Care, Leigh Archer strives to provide his patients with a comprehensive and personalised service. With a multidisciplinary approach, he considers all treatment options and communicates effectively with patients and GPs. He is always available for education sessions and GP visits, and he is pleased to discuss his patients or management of relevant problems. If necessary, he is willing to redirect referrals to his colleagues within Southern Surgical Care and collaborate with them to provide the best care possible.

Mr Archer completed his initial training in Sydney and relocated permanently to Western Australia for further surgical training. After being appointed as a member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, he completed a Fellowship with the Australia and New Zealand Gastro Oesophageal Surgery Association (ANZGOSA). During this time, he trained under renowned surgeon Professor Gregory Falk and gained advanced skills in managing reflux disease and bariatrics.

In addition, he spent a year working at an Upper GI malignancy unit at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he developed his interventional endoscopy and minimally invasive management techniques. Mr Archer has published multiple papers and participated in trials related to surgical oncology and upper GI disease. He has also facilitated international surgical audits and spoken at a number of international meetings. Mr Archer has provided mentorship and education through his roles at the University of Sydney, University of Notre Dame and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Trainees’ Association. His relaxed and approachable teaching style encourages discussions and audience participation.
