Dr. Sørensen is an accomplished Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgeon with extensive training and experience. He completed his undergraduate degree with Honours from the University of Glasgow in 2000 before joining the Basic Surgical Training (BST) program and becoming a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2004. Dr. Sørensen went on to work in the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery unit in Glasgow and later undertook a period of research in Durham, England, before joining the Higher Surgical Training (HST) scheme for Plastic Surgery in the North East of England, where he received comprehensive training in a range of subspecialties within Plastic Surgery.
After passing his Fellowship exam in Plastic Surgery (FRCS) in 2012, Dr. Sørensen completed several subspecialist training Fellowships, including a National Interface Fellowship in Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery, a highly competitive Aesthetic Fellowship in London, and a Head and Neck Fellowship at the St Andrew’s Unit for Plastic Surgery in Chelmsford, Essex. He was appointed a locum Consultant in Plastic Surgery in Chelmsford before moving to Norway in 2015, where he became a Consultant at the National Hospital (Rikshospitalet), the largest Plastic Surgery Department in the country.
Dr. Sørensen relocated to Cairns in 2018, where he currently holds the position of Staff Specialist at Cairns Hospital and has obtained his Fellowship (FRACS), making him a fully qualified Specialist Plastic Surgeon in Australia, in addition to being on the specialist register in the UK and Norway. He also has an academic appointment as Adjunct Senior Lecturer at James Cook University, where he teaches medical students and junior doctors while continuing his clinical practice.
