Dr Jeff Ball

Dr. Jeff Ball is a highly qualified and experienced consultant cardiologist specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. He is currently based in Nowra, New South Wales, Australia, and practices at the Nowra Private Hospital.

Dr. Ball completed his undergraduate studies in medicine with honors at Liverpool University in the United Kingdom. During this time, he discovered his passion for cardiology while working at the Cardiothoracic Centre in Liverpool. He then pursued further training in cardiology in North West England before embarking on a residency in Brisbane, Australia.

In order to expand his expertise in the field, Dr. Ball returned to the UK and established his cardiology practice in Leeds. During his time there, he conducted research in echocardiography and intracoronary ultrasound while providing exceptional patient care. In 1996, he was appointed as a consultant cardiologist in Liverpool. He also led the establishment of a new department of cardiology at Whiston Hospital.

Seeking to further enhance his knowledge and skills, Dr. Ball pursued a fellowship in echocardiography under the guidance of renowned expert Professor Thomas Marwick in 2003. This fellowship allowed him to become a co-founder of HeartCare NSW and make a permanent move to Australia. In 2013, he joined the Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital as the lead cardiologist.

Dr. Ball's current practice encompasses a wide range of cardiology specialties. He sees patients with various cardiac conditions, including chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, abnormal heart rhythms, dizziness, and blackouts. He has a particular interest in diseases of the coronary arteries, which often lead to angina or heart attacks, as well as heart valve diseases. He is well-versed in all aspects and modalities of echocardiography and provides a transoesophageal echocardiography service at SDMH.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ball has published research on chest pain syndromes that can mimic angina, such as cardiac syndrome X. His dedication to the field and commitment to providing advanced care to his patients have earned him a strong reputation as a top cardiologist.
