Dr Sithi Sitharthan is a highly skilled General Surgeon with extensive experience in surgical procedures. Having undergone surgical training in India, United Kingdom, and Australia, Dr Sitharthan holds special interests in Breast Cancer Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopy, Endoscopic Surgery, and Surgical Gastroenterology.
During his higher surgical training in the UK, he was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh in 1992 and the Intercollegiate Specialty Fellowship in 1999. Dr Sitharthan underwent further post-fellowship advanced surgical training at the Minimal Access Surgery Training Unit in Liverpool, England, and at the Aberdeen University Hospital, Scotland. He immigrated to Australia in 2002, where he obtained an Australian Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2004.
Dr Sitharthan has been serving as a Consultant Surgeon in the picturesque South Coast of NSW for the past 19 years. He is passionate about delivering superior surgical care in peripheral and regional areas, and he offers advanced interventional endoscopic procedures and laparoscopic bowel resections. Dr Sitharthan is also a specialist in breast cancer surgery and actively participates in the Shoalhaven Multi-disciplinary Oncology Team.
Dr Sitharthan's dedication to his profession manifests in his presentations of his work in Shoalhaven at numerous international conferences in Yokohama, Beijing, Kuala Lumpur, and Auckland over the past several years. He takes great joy in connecting with his patients and offering them personalised and expedited care. Dr Sitharthan and his family live in the South Coast. He enjoys photography, and the beauty of Illawarra & Shoalhaven keeps his passion alive. Additionally, he has taken up learning the cello, which he thoroughly enjoys.
