A/Prof James Toh

Dr James Toh is an accomplished Colorectal and General Surgeon who practices at Westmead Hospital and Westmead Private Hospital. He holds expertise in performing minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries and treating a broad spectrum of colorectal and general surgical conditions. At present, he is a member of various eminent organisation namely RACS, CSSANZ, GSA, and a friend of the NRHA. Dr Toh holds accreditation from Gastrointestinal Enterological Society of Australia (GESA) for performing gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures.

Dr Toh became a fellow of the prestigious Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 2013 leading to the additional 3 years of intensive subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery. He further honed his skills overseas as the International Visiting Surgeon in Robotic Surgery at Korea Anam Hospital. Dr Toh has been the recipient of numerous awards and prizes for his exceptional work in surgery and research. Some of the notable achievements include the Mark Killingback Colorectal Research Prize, Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) Research Award, and being the Citizen of the Year (Liverpool) at the National Australia Day Council Awards.

Dr Toh specialises in performing laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgeries, treating inflammatory bowel diseases and colorectal cancers. He also holds extensive experience in performing laparoscopic and open hernia repairs, managing perianal conditions such as anal cancers, haemorrhoids, fistulae, fissures, gastroscopy, and colonoscopy procedures. In his professional capacity, Dr Toh offers his services at Westmead Hospital, a prominent public healthcare facility.
