Dr Angus Thompson

Dr Angus Thompson is a highly experienced cardiologist specialising in cardiac imaging and heart failure. He currently practices at GenesisCare Hervey Bay in Urraween, Queensland, Australia. Prior to joining GenesisCare, he worked at various prestigious institutions including Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Western Australia and Ipswich Hospital in Queensland.

Dr. Thompson completed his residency and advanced cardiology training at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital before pursuing further specialty training at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. He obtained his fellowship in cardiology from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), with a focus on echocardiography.

Throughout his career, Dr. Thompson has demonstrated a passion for enhancing his skills in cardiac imaging. He completed a cardiac imaging fellowship in cardiac CT and MRI at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, where he also achieved board certification in Cardiac CT. In recognition of his dedication to advancing heart failure research and treatment, he was awarded a prestigious Churchill Fellowship, allowing him to visit renowned heart failure centers in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Thompson is currently appointed as a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine and Pharmacology, University of Western Australia (UWA), as well as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital. He has also consulted at the Mount in Western Australia and collaborated with Perth Radiological Clinic on the interpretation of Cardiac CT angiograms.

Dr. Thompson's primary interests lie in cardiology, specifically cardiac imaging and heart failure. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, he is dedicated to delivering exceptional care and improving the outcomes of his patients.
