Dr Wole Akosile is a highly respected Psychiatrist, specializing in the treatment of Substance Use Disorder. He is based in New Farm, Brisbane, and is affiliated with Ramsay Clinic New Farm. With over a decade of clinical experience, Dr Akosile has established himself as a renowned addiction specialist and is considered an expert in his field.
Dr Akosile is a Fellow of two prestigious medical colleges, including the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (FAChAM). He is known for his extensive research contributions, with multiple peer-reviewed articles published on addiction, psychiatry, and dual diagnosis.
In his practice, Dr Akosile provides comprehensive and individualized care for patients with substance use disorders and non-substance use disorder psychiatric diagnoses. He offers both inpatient and outpatient services and employs a holistic approach, incorporating various treatment modalities such as individual psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, functional restoration, and neurostimulation.
Dr Akosile's research work, which focused on the correlation between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and coronary artery disease, earned him a PhD from the Queensland University of Technology (QUT). His dedication and exceptional work were recognized in 2016, when he was awarded the prestigious Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Addiction Psychiatry Prize.
In addition to his medical qualifications, Dr Akosile holds a Master's in Public Health from the University of Queensland School of Population Health. His achievements in both academia and clinical practice have been commended by the Dean of the University of Queensland.
Dr Akosile completed his clinical training at esteemed Queensland hospitals, including the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital, Princess Alexandria Hospital, Brisbane Private Hospital, and Mater Hospital. Through his rigorous training, he obtained fellowships in addiction psychiatry and addiction medicine.
Currently serving as an adjunct senior lecturer at the University of Queensland, Dr Akosile remains dedicated to furthering knowledge and expertise in his field. He strongly believes in evidence-based practices and individualized care for patients struggling with addiction. His treatment approach includes relapse prevention therapy, a recovery model of care, and facilitating the successful reintegration of patients into society.
