A/Prof Vincent Lam

Associate Professor Vincent Lam is an accomplished surgeon with over 20 years of experience in the field of hepatobiliary, pancreatic and transplant surgery. He is currently a consultant surgeon at Westmead Hospital and Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of Sydney.

A/Professor Lam attended the University of Sydney, where he obtained his medical degree in 1998. He completed his general surgical training in Sydney in 2006 before pursuing two years of post-fellowship training in hepatobiliary, pancreatic and transplant surgery at Westmead Hospital, Sydney, and Queen Mary Hospital, Hong Kong.

In 2013, he became the first graduate of the Doctorate of Clinical Surgery program at the University of Sydney, having researched and written a thesis titled "Extending the frontiers of surgical resection of colorectal liver metastases.'' His work has been widely published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.

Apart from his clinical duties, A/Professor Lam takes an active role in medical education and training. He currently serves as the Deputy Chair of the Medical Staff Council and Site-Director of Surgical Skills Network at Westmead Hospital, where he also trains aspiring surgeons as Supervisor of Training in General Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.

A/Professor Lam's clinical interests center around minimally invasive surgery of the liver, gallbladder, pancreas and spleen, as well as the surgical management of liver, pancreas, and bile duct cancers. He has also developed an interest in Robotic Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery. In his career, A/Professor Lam has demonstrated a commitment to providing high-quality surgical care to his patients while advancing the field of surgery through research and education.
