Dr Simon Chew

Dr. Simon Chew is an accomplished Colorectal Surgeon with over 11 years of experience in the field. He received his MBBS (Honours Class 1) in 1992 from the University of NSW and went on to gain a fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2001. Furthermore, he was selected by The Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSSANZ) for their colorectal training programme, where he honed his skills for two years between 2001 and 2002. Dr. Chew is also an experienced lecturer, having held positions at the University of UNSW and the University of Sydney as a Clinical Lecturer and Clinical Senior Lecturer, respectively. He currently performs surgeries at multiple healthcare facilities, including Westmead Private Hospital, Strathfield Private Hospital, Norwest and Neapean Private Hospitals. Dr. Chew is renowned for his expertise in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and has a particular interest in treating anal problems such as haemorrhoids and anal fistula. He is credited with designing his own hand-assisted laparoscopic colectomy techniques. His unique techniques have gained notoriety, with him being invited to teach them at various interstate and international educational workshops held in locations including Melbourne, Perth, and Singapore. Along with being an acclaimed teacher, Dr. Chew has also been invited to speak at several conferences on the topic. Dr. Chew's extensive research has resulted in him publishing 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and two book chapters. His comprehensive expertise in the field has led him to have a few practices located across New South Wales in Castle Hill, Penrith, and Eastwood.
