Dr Samantha Barbour is a radiation oncologist based in Greenslopes, Brisbane, Australia. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery degree from the University of Queensland in 1997. Dr Barbour went on to complete a Fellowship in paediatric oncology in Brisbane in 2006. During this time, she trained at prestigious institutions including The Royal Children's Hospital in Brisbane, The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children in the UK, and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in the USA. This diverse training experience has given her a comprehensive understanding of cancer care.
Returning to Brisbane, Dr Barbour worked as a consultant paediatric oncologist at the Royal Children's Hospital before embarking on radiation oncology training in 2011. In early 2015, she successfully completed the Fellowship examination and received the Uhr Clark Bursary Award for the phase II RANZCR examination. She then served as a radiation oncology Fellow at The Princess Alexandra Hospital, focusing on breast cancer, lymphoma, and gastrointestinal malignancy in both clinical and research capacities. Dr Barbour was awarded a Fellowship in Radiation Oncology in February 2016 and has since worked as a consultant at the Princess Alexandra Hospital and Radiation Oncology Mater Centre.
Driven by a commitment to lifelong learning and the delivery of exceptional care and clinical outcomes, Dr Barbour actively engages in research and has actively recruited patients for clinical trials. Her special interests span across a broad range of cancers, with a particular focus on breast cancer, lymphoma, gastrointestinal cancers, lung cancer, and paediatric cancers.
