Dr Sam O'Connor

Dr Sam O'Connor is a well-respected gastroenterologist with a specialty in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), capsule endoscopy, and colonoscopy. He practices in Greenslopes, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, primarily at Greenslopes Private Hospital. Dr O'Connor completed his medical degree with Honours at the University of Sydney in 2006. His passion for gastroenterology led him to pursue further training in this field, beginning in Townsville in 2011. He then dedicated several years at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, where he completed advanced training as the Inflammatory Bowel Disease and Motility Fellow. In 2014, Dr O'Connor traveled to the United Kingdom to undertake a prestigious fellowship in advanced colonoscopy and complex polypectomy with the Gloucestershire NHS Trust and Dr John Anderson. Upon his return to Australia, he shared his expertise by serving as faculty on the National Endoscopy Training Initiative's 'Quality Colonoscopy Course,' a role he has fulfilled for the past four years. Dr O'Connor's contributions to the field of gastroenterology extend beyond his clinical practice and training. He is one of only four physicians appointed to the Australian Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, demonstrating his leadership and influence in this area.
