Dr. Richard Nankervis is well-known as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician. He was born and raised in the local area of South East Queensland, and he pursued his undergraduate degrees in Physiology and Allied Health. After that, he received a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Queensland in 2002. Dr. Nankervis then underwent specialist training at various hospitals in South East Queensland. This included two years of training in Respiratory Medicine at The Royal Brisbane Hospital and the Logan Hospital and a fellowship year in Sleep Medicine at the Royal Brisbane Hospital and Rivercity Private Hospital.
Dr. Richard Nankervis has a broad range of experience and expertise in managing various respiratory conditions such as lung disease related to occupational exposure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, bronchiectasis, asthma, interstitial lung disease, sarcoidosis, lung cancer, pulmonary infection, and pleural diseases. Additionally, he has a keen interest in interventional procedures such as standard bronchoscopy and endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS). Notably, he is the only private practitioner to perform these procedures in the region and he has Ipswich’s first EBUS service.
Dr. Richard Nankervis also has a passion for sleep medicine and runs a dedicated sleep clinic. His clinic addresses both respiratory and non-respiratory aspects of sleep such as obstructive sleep apnoea/snoring, central sleep apnoea, narcolepsy, and sleep behavior disorders. With his vast experience and knowledge, Dr. Richard Nankervis is one of the most respected physicians in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine in Ipswich and the surrounding regions.
