Dr Richard Hillock

Dr Richard Hillock is a well qualified Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist based in Ashford, Adelaide. With a specialization in cardiac electrophysiology, he has a particular interest in ablation of atrial fibrillation and atrial tachycardia. Dr Hillock completed his Fellowship in Electrophysiology and Pacing at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he had the opportunity to work with renowned arrhythmia specialists and researchers in Australasia.

Dr Hillock obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Otago, New Zealand, in 1992. Following his foundational medical education, he completed his cardiology training at Canterbury District Health Board in Christchurch in 2003. He was awarded his Fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in the same year.

Having gained extensive experience with the latest technologies in arrhythmias and pacing, including advanced ablation techniques and pacemakers/defibrillators, Dr Hillock is well-equipped to provide comprehensive and cutting-edge care to his patients. He maintains an active involvement in research, contributing to projects focused on areas such as electrophysiology substrates in patients with focal atrial tachycardia and the impact of BNP infusion on left ventricular remodelling in post-myocardial infarction populations.

Dr Hillock is committed to sharing his expertise and knowledge with others. He is actively involved in teaching and mentoring cardiology fellows and registrars, medical students, nursing staff, and cardiac technicians. He has a strong interest in GP education sessions and is dedicated to ensuring a high standard of cardiac care across various levels of the medical profession.

In his professional affiliations, Dr Hillock holds membership with The New Zealand Pacing and Electrophysiology Group since 2003 and the Australian Pacing and Electrophysiology Group since 2006. He is also an Associate Member of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Consulting regularly at Flinders, Noarlunga, Ashford, and North Adelaide, Dr Hillock offers a range of services including electrophysiology studies, cardiac ablations, pacemaker and defibrillator device implantations at Ashford and Calvary Wakefield Hospitals. Additionally, he contributes to public electrophysiology and pacing procedures at the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
