Dr Kostas Brooks is a Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and Gastrointestinal endoscopist based in Sydney, Australia. He obtained his BMed MD from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) and completed his internship and Basic Physician Training at Concord Repatriation General Hospital.

Dr Brooks then pursued Advanced Training in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Prince of Wales Hospital, followed by subspecialty advanced endoscopy training at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and holds certification from the Australian Conjoint Committee for the Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRGE) for gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography.

Currently, Dr Brooks serves as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) and consultant at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital. He has extensive experience and knowledge in hepatobiliary disease and is proficient in endoscopic ultrasound and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. His expertise also includes the management and endoscopic treatment of Barrett's Oesophagus.

Dr Brooks has a strong research interest in the field. During his time at Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, he collaborated with the GI Viral-Oncology group to pursue a PhD focused on the role of high-risk HPV in oesophageal adenocarcinoma and associated lymph nodes at the University of New South Wales.

In addition to his clinical and research work, Dr Brooks is committed to education. He has lectured and tutored medical students across multiple universities in Sydney and holds the position of Conjoint Lecturer at the South Western Sydney Clinical School, University of New South Wales.

Dr Brooks has previously published in the Journal of Gastroenterology and has presented at both local and international conferences. He has a special interest in providing cancer detection and surveillance, as well as personalized, evidence-based clinical care for individuals with gastrointestinal issues, including inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), coeliac disease, liver diseases, peptic ulcer disease, bowel cancer screening, polyp detection and removal, and irritable bowel syndrome.
