Dr. Peter Tan is a highly skilled haematologist with expertise in haematological oncology and general haematological conditions, such as thrombosis and haemostasis disorders. With a strong focus on patient care, he is dedicated to making innovative therapies available to his patients and ensuring they receive exceptional long-term care.
Dr. Tan's medical training began at The University of Western Australia, before he pursued advanced specialty training in haematology and bone marrow transplantation at St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney. He subsequently worked as the Kefford Leukemia Research Fellow at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne for three years, where his scientific and translational research led to important advancements in blood cancers and targeted therapies. His work also included co-designing an ongoing national clinical trial investigating the use of epigenetic therapy for advanced acute myeloid leukaemia, which is being conducted by the Australasian Leukaemia and Lymphoma Group.
Currently, Dr. Tan is working with Professor Ross Baker at the Perth Blood Institute, where he conducts clinical trials on new treatments for a wide range of haematological diseases, including lymphoma, myeloma, leukaemia, as well as bleeding and clotting disorders. His knowledge, skills and expertise in haematology have earned him a reputation as a specialist who is committed to putting his patients first and providing them with cutting-edge treatments to improve their health outcomes.
