Dr. Neil Simon is a highly accomplished neurologist with a wide range of clinical and academic interests. After graduating with top honours from the University of New South Wales, he completed a neurology training programme in Sydney, followed by a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at the Institute of Neurological Sciences at Prince of Wales Hospital. In the USA, he pursued advanced specialisation in Clinical Neurophysiology and Neuromuscular Medicine at the prestigious University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and earned a PhD for his studies on motor neuron diseases and peripheral nerve trauma. Dr. Simon has a particular research interest in nerve and muscle disorders, including neuropathy, myopathy and neurodegenerative conditions, as well as spinal medicine, nerve injury and entrapment. He is an editorial board member of Muscle & Nerve, the official journal of the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. His clinical practice extends beyond these areas of expertise, encompassing the full spectrum of neurological disorders such as stroke, headache, epilepsy, tremor, Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Dr. Simon's commitment to improving access and quality of neurological care makes him an influential leader in his field. He serves as Head of Neurology at Northern Beaches Hospital and Medical Director of Northern Beaches Neurology, where he promotes innovation in both inpatient and outpatient services. In his free time, Dr. Simon is an avid surfer who shares his passion with his four children, encouraging them to embrace the sport and enjoy the ocean's pleasures in all conditions.
