Dr. Jason Kaplan is an esteemed cardiologist and physician specialising in adult cardiology. Based in Darlinghurst, Sydney, Australia, Dr. Kaplan obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery with Honors from the University of New South Wales in 1999.
Following his undergraduate studies, Dr. Kaplan completed his Internal Medicine Training at St. George and Prince of Wales hospitals, as well as Adult Cardiology training at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Additionally, he pursued additional advanced training in medical oncology and pharmacology, enhancing his ability to provide holistic care to patients with multiple medical issues.
Dr. Kaplan has undergone extensive training in cardiac imaging within Australia and has gained further expertise at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Minnesota, USA. He is skilled in conducting transoesophageal echocardiography and pharmacological stress echocardiography, and he has introduced the utilization of contrast echo and strain imaging at Macquarie University Hospital. Dr. Kaplan is also an accredited specialist in Cardiac CT and personally evaluates all patients' scans.
Contributing to innovative advancements in the field, Dr. Kaplan has brought minimally invasive robotic cardiac surgery to Macquarie University and provides 3D echocardiography services to peri-operative patients. He is actively involved in the Structural Heart Disease team at Macquarie University, evaluating patients before minimally invasive cardiac procedures.
Moreover, Dr. Kaplan embraces the principles of Integrative Cardiology, incorporating cardiovascular, nutritional, functional, and Mind-Body Medicine approaches into patient care. He possesses a particular interest in Sports Cardiology - a developing subspecialty within cardiology that focuses on cardiac care for elite athletes and individuals engaged in regular exercise. Dr. Kaplan has collaborated with the NSW Institute of Sport, Olympic athletes, and has recently consulted for the National Rugby League.
Dr. Kaplan's dedication to the medical community extends to his role as a senior clinical lecturer of Cardiovascular and Respiratory Medicine at Macquarie University, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. He has lectured extensively to primary care physicians in his areas of specialty and is highly sought-after as a speaker.
Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Kaplan cherishes time spent with his wife and daughter. He is an avid tennis player and enjoys practicing yoga. Beginning in February 2016, Dr. Kaplan will consult at locations in the Sydney CBD, Macquarie University, and Seven Hills.
