A/Prof Andrew Jabbour

Associate Professor Andrew Jabbour is a renowned Cardiologist based in Darlinghurst, Sydney, Australia. He is currently affiliated with St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney as a Consultant Cardiologist and holds the position of conjoint Associate Professor of Medicine with the University of New South Wales.

Dr Jabbour completed his training in cardiology at St Vincent’s Hospital and went on to pursue a PhD at the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute. To broaden his expertise, he relocated to the United Kingdom where he worked at The Royal Brompton Hospital and Imperial College London. During his time abroad, Dr Jabbour specialised in advanced cardiovascular imaging and conducted extensive research in the field.

His research primarily focuses on cardiomyopathy, which includes coronary artery disease and genetic causes, as well as hypertension, valvular heart disease, and rare infiltrative disorders such as cardiac amyloidosis and sarcoidosis. Dr Jabbour's work has been widely acclaimed and published in reputable medical journals including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, The Lancet, and JAMA.

In addition to his role at St Vincent’s Hospital, Dr Jabbour is an esteemed member of the Heart Transplantation Team. He is also involved in providing cardiac care as a general cardiologist, collaborating with the New South Wales Royal Flying Doctors Service and the Rural Doctors Network.

Dr Jabbour has a keen interest in radiation-free cardiac imaging and takes pride in running a weekly Cardiac MRI session at St Vincent’s Hospital. Aside from English, he is fluent in French, facilitating communication with a broader range of patients.

Throughout his career, Dr Jabbour has been recognized for his outstanding achievements. He has been honored with prestigious awards such as The University of New South Wales Foundation Year Graduates Medal, The Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand President’s Prize, and the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia Neil Hamilton-Fairley Postdoctoral Clinical Research Fellowship.
