Dr Jane Gordon is a highly skilled specialist haematologist who sees patients with a broad range of haematology problems. These include abnormal blood counts, clotting or bleeding problems, and malignant haematology conditions. She is presently practicing as a haematologist at Calvary Mater Newcastle, where she utilises her skills to the fullest and ensures clear and timely communication with colleagues, patients, and their families.
With extensive clinical and laboratory expertise, Jane holds dual fellowships with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) and the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA). Her laboratory knowledge enables her to make sense of complex test results and subsequently explain what they mean and what to do.
After graduating with a medical degree from the University of Newcastle in 1997, Jane completed medical and haematology training in the area's hospitals. She was previously a consultant haematologist at Concord Repatriation General Hospital in Sydney.
Jane has received several awards, including the DS Nelson and Roche Haematology Prizes, both from the RCPA. She was given a Leukaemia Foundation scholarship, which gave her the opportunity to explore how leukaemia biology connects patient outcomes during a research position within Professor John Rasko's laboratory at Centenary Institute, at the University of Sydney.
Jane is a devoted contributor to medical education in the community, hospital and university fields. She has provided valuable education through the University of Newcastle, University of Sydney, and the Centre for Professional Medical Development.
Overall, Jane is a highly qualified and experienced specialist haematologist who combines passionate patient care with a comprehensive understanding of haematological conditions.
