Dr Inga Baumgartner

Dr Baumgartner has a wide range of special interests within the field of psychiatry. Her areas of expertise include general psychiatry, drug and alcohol-related issues, old-age psychiatry, and the impact of other medical conditions on mental health. She is experienced in working with various age groups, including mothers and babies, adults aged 18-60, and individuals aged 60 and above.

Throughout her career, Dr Baumgartner has provided care and support to individuals from diverse backgrounds. This includes working with asylum seekers and refugees, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, doctors, psychiatrists or medical students, gender diverse individuals, gay and lesbian individuals, those with intellectual or physical disabilities, military veterans, non-English speaking individuals, families, and emergency services personnel.

Dr Baumgartner has developed expertise in several areas of psychiatry. Some of her areas of special expertise include addiction, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorders, bipolar disorder, complex trauma, conversion disorder, dementia-related disorders, depression, electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), motivational interviewing, obsessive-compulsive disorders, pain management, personality disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, psychosis, schizophrenia, supportive psychotherapy, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS).

In her practice, Dr Baumgartner offers a range of services to meet the needs of her patients. These services include insurance opinions and reports, opinion and report consultations (MBS item 291), shared care arrangements, urgent assessments, weekly psychotherapy sessions, and after-hours appointments.
