Dr Elizabeth Shaw

Dr Elizabeth Shaw is a highly accomplished Structural and Interventional Cardiologist with a special focus on valvular heart disease and women's heart health. She is currently based in Wahroonga, Sydney, Australia.

Dr Shaw completed her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honors at The University of Sydney. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioinformatics, with a double major in Genetics and Computer Science, from the same university. She is a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians with a subspecialty in Cardiology.

With over a decade of experience, Dr Shaw has established herself as a leading authority in the field. She has a particular interest in clinical cardiology, interventional cardiology, and structural interventions. Her expertise includes performing procedures such as Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR), Percutaneous Treatments of Aortic and Mitral Valves & Left Atrial Appendage Occlusion, and PFO/ASD Closures. She is also skilled in coronary angiography and stenting.

Dr Shaw's dedication and contribution to the field of cardiology have been recognized through various accolades. She was awarded the Australia and New Zealand Endovascular Therapies (ANZET) Fellows Prize in August 2015. In addition, she received the Kuring-Gai District Medical Association Award in 2007 and the Golden Key Honors Association Award in 1997 for Excellence in Academic Studies.

As an active member of the healthcare community, Dr Shaw serves as a committee member for the Australia and New Zealand Endovascular Therapies Meeting. She is also a co-founding director of Shore Cardiology and a founding member of the Women in Interventional Cardiology of Australia and New Zealand group. Her dedication to promoting diversity and inclusivity within the medical profession is commendable.

Currently, Dr Shaw holds the position of director of Cardiology at the Sydney Adventist Hospital and serves as a staff specialist in Cardiology for Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital. She is also affiliated with the Northern Beaches Hospital as a Cardiologist. Her private practice, Shaw Cardiology, is located in Wahroonga.

Apart from her medical expertise, Dr Shaw possesses language skills in addition to English. She is fluent in Mandarin, which enables her to effectively communicate with patients from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
