Dr Elizabeth Maxwell

Dr Elizabeth Maxwell is an accomplished specialist in fertility and gynecology, with over 10 years of experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is accredited to practice at The Fertility Centre/IVF Australia Wollongong and the Wollongong Private Hospital, located in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia.

Dr Maxwell completed her Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney before pursuing her medical career at the University of QLD, where she obtained a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery. She then completed her internship and residency at the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, where she also underwent her Obstetrics and Gynecology training. During this time, she earned a Masters degree in Reproductive Medicine from the University of NSW.

In addition to her training in Australia, Dr Maxwell also underwent a clinical fellowship in Reproductive Medicine and Infertility for six months at the National University Hospital in Singapore. This experience led her to become a Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists fellow in 2017. Dr Maxwell is currently working towards obtaining the highest qualification a fertility specialist can hold in Australia, a CREI (Certificate of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility).

Dr Maxwell has received advanced training in all aspects of infertility and IVF at Monash IVF in Melbourne and IVF Australia in Sydney over the past four years. Her training includes a wide range of areas such as menopause, pediatric and adolescent gynecology and surgery, reproductive endocrinology, and more. To ensure her qualification, she successfully passed two rigorous examinations last year.

Dr Maxwell is dedicated to providing thorough and empathetic care to her patients, prioritizing their concerns and addressing them with compassion. Her passion lies in helping all patients achieve parenthood, regardless of their relationship status or sexual orientation. She returned to the Illawarra area in 2016, where she fell in love with the region and decided to raise her family. Outside of work, Dr Maxwell enjoys spending time at the beach and biking with her children.

Dr Maxwell's special interests include infertility and IVF, fertility preservation (embryo, egg, or sperm freezing), reproductive endocrinology, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, donor eggs/sperm and surrogacy, menstrual disorders, recurrent miscarriage, menopause, and contraception.
