Associate Professor Karumathil Murali boasts an illustrious career as a seasoned nephrologist, amassing over two decades of consultancy experience. His journey in the field commenced with rigorous training in Nephrology and Hypertension at prestigious institutions, including the Toronto General Hospital in Canada and New South Wales' Westmead Hospital, Australia. These formative years followed his foundational medical education in Calicut, India, culminating in a Master of Medicine degree in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Sydney, where he achieved distinction.
A/Prof Murali's expertise spans a spectrum of nephrology, including acute and chronic kidney conditions, intractable hypertension, electrolyte and acid-base imbalances, and anaemia linked to renal disorders. He is equally well-versed in the comprehensive care of patients undergoing dialysis and those navigating the complex journey of kidney transplantation.
Notably, A/Prof Murali spearheads educational initiatives as the Clinical Lead within the Department of Nephrology at Wollongong Hospital.
