Dr Deepak Haikerwal

Dr Deepak Haikerwal is a highly skilled cardiologist with expertise in general adult cardiology, transthoracic, and transoesophageal echo. Based in Hoppers Crossing, Melbourne, he has been an integral part of Heartwest since its inception. Dr Haikerwal completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Monash University in 1991, and subsequently obtained his Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 1999.

As the inaugural Director of Cardiology at Sunshine Hospital, Dr Haikerwal held various senior positions within Western Health and played an active role at The Alfred Hospital, Cabrini Hospital, and Western Private Hospital. He also has admitting rights to The Avenue and Epworth Hospital. Dr Haikerwal has been instrumental in establishing private inpatient cardiology services at Western Private, which has now become a prominent provider of inpatient cardiology care in the Western region.

Dr Haikerwal's dedication to delivering high-quality cardiology care is evident in his extensive range of responsibilities. He conducts consultations, performs coronary angiograms, transoesophageal echocardiograms (TOE), and interprets transthoracic echocardiograms. Additionally, he actively participates in the education and training of medical students, residents, and registrars. Dr Haikerwal remains committed to furthering his field through ongoing research projects.
