A/Prof Neil Smith

A/Prof Neil Smith is a medical professional specializing in respiratory and sleep medicine for adults. A proud alumnus of the University of Melbourne, he is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians and an American College of Chest Physicians fellow. With a background of thorough training in respiratory medicine and sleep disorders medicine, he completed his training while training at the Austin and Repatriation Hospital and the Western Hospital in Melbourne.

Dr. Smith offers his expertise to patients in various care settings. He currently practices in his main office in Hoppers Crossing and provides consultations at Sunbury Specialist Centre and John Fawkner Private Hospital in Coburg. Dr. Smith has a particular interest in treating obstructive sleep apnea patients who face difficulties tolerating treatment with CPAP therapy.

Aside from his private practice, Dr. Smith is involved in the Department of Respiratory Medicine at The Alfred Hospital, where he evaluates patients with severe emphysema for lung volume reduction surgery. Dr. Smith has served as a consultant at John Fawkner Private Hospital’s consulting quarters since 1998.

Dr. Smith is also heavily involved with teaching medical students. He is Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Notre Dame, Australia, Sydney School of Medicine, and Werribee Clinical School.
