Mr David Yong

Meet Mr David Yong, a highly skilled General Surgeon with a passion for delivering outstanding medical care through Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, Endoscopy, Gallbladder, General Surgery Hernia, Gastric Surgery and Small Bowel Surgery. He is currently the Director of Joondalup Bariatric Services since 2013 and has performed over 4000 bariatric procedures. In addition, Mr Yong is involved in teaching Bariatric Fellows thereby sharing his knowledge and extensive experience with other aspiring General Surgeons.

Mr Yong is proficient in several areas such as General Surgery which includes hernias, gallbladder, small and large bowel surgeries. His expertise in gastric surgery cuts across both benign and malignant conditions. He also specialises in treating benign conditions like hiatus hernia surgery, fundoplication and surgeries for achalasia. Furthermore, his remarkable skills in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery make him the go-to surgeon for hernias including inguinal, femoral, umbilical and incisional, laparoscopic splenectomy, common bile duct exploration and some oesophago-gastric tumours such as gastro-intestinal stromal tumours (GIST).

Mr Yong’s excellence in Bariatric Surgery is impressive with various laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass and revisional surgery cases under his belt. Lastly, his proficiency in Endoscopy which includes gastroscopy and colonoscopy helps to diagnose and evaluate digestive system problems.
