Dr Chun Gan is a highly skilled and experienced Gastroenterologist based in Sunnybank, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. He obtained his medical degree, Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), from the prestigious University of Melbourne in 2007. Dr Gan then completed his Basic Physician Training at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne before embarking on his Advanced Training in Gastroenterology in Queensland in 2015.
Throughout his career, Dr Gan has continuously demonstrated a commitment to excellence in his field. In 2018, he completed a fellowship in colonoscopy at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital, followed by a fellowship in advanced luminal endoscopy at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in 2019. These specialised fellowships have allowed him to develop expertise in complex colorectal polyp resection and challenging colonoscopy procedures.
During his training in Gastroenterology, Dr Gan also pursued a PhD degree in Lynch syndrome under the guidance of Professor Finlay Macrae at the Royal Melbourne Hospital (University of Melbourne). This research has contributed to his deep understanding of hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes and has enriched his knowledge in the field.
Dr Gan currently practices in both public and private settings, offering his expertise at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital Northside, and Sunnybank Private Hospital. As the clinical lead in the Familial Bowel Cancer Clinic at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, he provides specialised care to patients with hereditary gastrointestinal cancer syndromes.
Dr Gan's clinical interests lie within luminal gastroenterology, with a particular focus on the resection of large complex colorectal polyps and difficult colonoscopies. He is also highly skilled in conducting procedures such as ERCP, Capsule Endoscopy, EUS, Endoscopy, and Hepatology. Additionally, he has a strong interest in bowel cancer screening, irritable bowel syndrome, liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease.
