Dr Christian Van Nieuwenhuysen

Dr. Christian Van Nieuwenhuysen is a highly qualified anaesthetist with a special interest in perioperative critical events, specifically adverse drug reactions and anaphylaxis to anaesthetic agents. He is a graduate of the University of Queensland (2008) and completed his specialty anaesthesia training in SEQ hospitals. In 2015, he received his fellowship with the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and is currently a staff specialist at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

With only a few anaesthetists in Australia who possess special expertise in perioperative adverse drug reactions, Dr. Van Nieuwenhuysen is among them. He is an expert in diagnosis, investigation, testing, and anaesthesia planning for patients returning to the operating theatre after abandoned surgery due to anaphylaxis or other critical events. In addition, he occupies a public hospital appointment with Queensland Health as a consultant anaesthetist, where he manages one of Australia's largest public clinics specializing in the investigation of anaesthetic anaphylaxis. At the Queensland Anaesthetic Reaction Clinic, Greenslopes Private Hospital, he also conducts consultations and allergy testing services for his patients.
