Dr Aye San

Dr Aye San is an accomplished Nephrologist with expertise in a wide range of conditions related to the kidneys. She obtained her medical degree from the University of Medicine, Mandalay, Myanmar, in 2007 and continued her training in multiple hospitals in Queensland, as well as interstate hospitals like The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Dr San holds dual specialist Fellowships in Nephrology and adult general medicine and has also completed additional training for The Clinical Diploma in Palliative Medicine to enrich her skills in kidney supportive care.

Dr San’s areas of specialisation include chronic kidney disease, diabetic kidney disease, hypertension, glomerulonephritis, nephrotic syndrome, haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and management of long-term kidney transplant recipients. She has also gained additional experience in managing hypertension in pregnancy during her training at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.

Her research publications have focused on cognitive impairment in advanced kidney disease and the role of inflammation in cardiovascular risks associated with chronic kidney disease. Dr San believes in achieving the best patient outcomes by prioritising patient empowerment and their involvement in their kidney health, as well as emphasizing their values and quality of life. She has an excellent track record in providing exceptional, evidence-based care for patients with kidney disease.
